When life throws unexpected challenges, community support becomes more than just a comforting notion; it transforms into a lifeline.
At DNG, we believe that our responsibilities extend beyond property transactions. Our primary mission is to help families find their dream home, but we strongly recognise the importance of supporting the community, especially during times of need. Partnering with Ronald McDonald House has allowed us to do just that, and we are honoured to play a part in supporting such a critical and compassionate cause.
The Ronald McDonald House Charities Ireland’s mission is to provide accommodation and a caring, supportive environment for families whose children are seriously ill and undergoing medical treatment at Children’s Health Ireland, Crumlin. The Ronald McDonald House (RMHC) alleviates some of the pressure by providing a comfortable, supportive place to stay allowing parents to focus on what truly matters, their child’s recovery.
Since its opening in November 2004, The Ronald McDonald House, has supported more than five thousand families from all over Ireland, allowing them to stay close to their child during treatment.
The new RMHC, which is currently under construction, will have fifty-two bedrooms and will be located at the heart of the new Children’s Hospital, providing direct access to the hospital for families in need.
Kitchens are the heart of any home, and The Ronald McDonald House kitchen is no different, as it helps to bring people together and allows their families to look forward to a home cooked meal after a long day at the hospital.
DNG first got involved with the RMHC seven years ago, through the Cooking for Families programme. This programme facilitates both individuals and groups to prepare, plan and cook a meal, and then tidy up the kitchen afterwards.
Enthusiastic staff members from DNG were privileged to take part in the Cooking for Families programme, and our teams embraced the opportunity to create delicious menus, purchase ingredients and volunteer their time and culinary skills to deliver these home cooked meals to the families.
Outside of the kitchen, some of our brave staff members scaled new heights, as they took part in the first Smithfield Abseil, which saw them smash their target raising just shy of €22k for the charity. There are plans underway for a Vintage Fire Truck Pull which is set to take place in October of this year.
‘RMHC Ireland thrives thanks to the support of companies like DNG. Connecting with organisations is always a challenge but finding that key person who makes things happen is even harder. Thankfully, we have the support of Niamh Comber who is consistently engaging and is always willing to go the extra mile.’ Says Nicole Nolan of RMHC.
The partnership between DNG and RMHC has facilitated community engagement in several ways. DNG encourages their staff members to actively support RMHC through fundraising events, awareness campaigns, and volunteering efforts.
By leveraging DNG’s network and resources, RMHC has been able to raise awareness about its mission and services, connect with more families in need, and foster a sense of community support. The collaboration has strengthened RMHC’s outreach and allowed it to engage with a wider audience, ultimately benefiting families with seriously ill children
At DNG, our involvement with RMHC goes beyond corporate duty – it reflects our values and our desire to give back to the community that has supported us over the years. We understand that running a facility like RMHC requires significant resources and our goal is to ensure that we can assist them, as they continue their mission.
Raising awareness is a critical component of our partnership with RMHC. By leveraging our network and media presence, we aim to highlight the incredible work being done. Through our various channels, we share events which allow us to shed light on the charity’s essential role, and we hope to inspire others to support RMHC whether it is through donations or just spreading the word.
Our involvement with RMHC has had a profound impact on our team at DNG. It has fostered a culture of empathy, compassion and community service within our organisation. Team members who volunteer often speak of the sense of fulfillment they experience, knowing that they are making a difference in the lives of families facing tough times.
The culture of giving back is something we are immensely proud of. It not only strengthens our team's bond but enhances our connection with the broader community. It is a reminder that our work is not just about property, it is about people and the communities we serve.
Through our partnership with RMHC, we have encountered stories of hope and resilience. These stories are both heart wrenching and inspiring. Hearing about the relief and comfort that the house provides reinforces the importance of our support.
As we look to the future, our commitment to the RMHC remains steadfast and we are continuing to explore new ways to support them; whether that’s through fundraising methods, increasing volunteer hours or leveraging our platform to raise even more awareness to support RMHC’s collective effort. We are grateful to our team, clients and the community for their support.
It's this collective spirit that makes our partnership with RMHC so special. Together we are making a tangible difference in the lives of families facing some extremely challenging times, and we firmly believe that our success as a business is measured not just by the properties we sell, but by the positive impact we have on our community through our partnership with RMHC.
We look forward to many years of collaboration with RMHC and will continue to support them, so that every family in need finds comfort, support and a home from home when it matters most.
